Ecology
The Ecology Program maps natural vegetation communities using Ecological Systems in the Montana Land Cover layer in partnership with the Spatial Analysis Lab and wetland and riparian communities to National Wetland Inventory standards using aerial photography in the Montana Wetland and Riparian layer in partnership with the Ecological Mapping Monitoring and Analysis (EMMA) group at the O'Connor Center for the Rocky Mountain West. Both of these data layers are part of the Montana Spatial Data Infrastructure for Montana. Additionally, the program documents the distribution and status of a variety of biological communities, with emphasis on those that are communities of conservation concern.
